"That brass section closed the evening with a wildly swinging encore all to itself - Joseph Turrin's Jazzalogue No.1 - as Masur stood off to the side, looking every bit as impressed as the rest of us."

Jazzalogue No.1Buy Score
Jazzalogue for brass choir.
Commissioned by the NY Philharmonic Brass Section. Introduction by Kurt Masur
Commissioned by the New York Philharmonic (as an encore piece) for their 1997 Latin American Tour. The first performance took place just before the tour, at the last concert of the season on May 31, 1997 at Avery Fisher Hall. The work was not on the program, but Kurt Masur (from on stage) introduced it to the audience as a surprise. That concert was recorded by WQXR Radio and played throughout the US. In the following year the orchestra used Jazzalogue on their 1998 tour of Asia.
